PRIORITY PROJECTS
1. THE DINNING HALL: The dining hall is almost falling down due to age and thereby endangering the lives of the students. Further it was also pointed out that the current state of the facility might be a recipe for the students to go on strike.
2. THE DORMITORIES: Six dormitories namely: 3,4,7,8,9,10 have collapsed to the ground and consequently, the students are crammed in to the few standing dormitories, some of which are also not in good shape.
3. TUTION CLASSES: It was sadly noted that each class now holds and average of 45 students. This number is way too large for the small classes which have maintained their same physical status since most if not all can remember.
Members were asked to participate and generously make their contributions without any fear of the funds being embezzled as SOBA is and will be actively involved in the accounting and auditing of the funds to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilization of the funds.
The Headmaster further informed the meeting that there is a lot of goodwill right from the Ministry of Education to the students towards the restoration of the school’s glory.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
The headmaster informed the meeting that there had been a significant improvement in the academic performance of the school and as such the school had recorded a significant growth in the numbers of students who had secured admission into the various private and public universities. It was agreed that each and every one of us SOBA members had an unwavering duty in ensuring that this trend permanently sustained.
MATTERS GENERAL
It was agreed that the school had a very negative perception in the eyes of the public as many people associated the school with all manner of ills. Everything possible should be employed to ensure that the school is treated with dignity as its contemporaries like Alliance Boys and others.
The headmaster sent all those present into bursts of laughter when he recounted how some visiting students from various universities on attachment had expressed their reservations about the school, including one who said that the prison was built next to the school to expressly accommodate the notorious boys even without trial!!
